Enterprise Know-How
To the left and below is a smattering of work we have done for technology companies doing business in the commercial enterprise space. (We’d show you more, but it would reveal how “mature” we are.)
Microsoft
In the server room, Microsoft faced a growing challenge. As IT infrastructures were becoming more complex, Microsoft’s varied product sub-brands (Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange Server, Microsoft Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center, etc.) created a perception that the Microsoft infrastructure stack was only making the complexity problem worse.
Thus came the launch of a new, over-arching, unifying IT brand for Microsoft: Windows Server System. This brand was intended to simplify the stack offering, and the advertising that launched the brand reinforced that simplicity and flexibility to help the IT audiences understand Microsoft’s promise.
Dell
Dell’s line of Optiplex 755 computers were designed to provide a company’s IT department with more remote access, more control and, as a result, more time to focus on information technology as a strategic business tool.
This online campaign, inspired by and shot like The Office, used satire to persuade IT decision-makers to consider Dell’s new system. The storytelling is a riff on “The Office,” which, of course, features a fresh set of weird-but-grounded-in-reality challenges to cope with every week — not unlike the real world. If only Andy, Dwight and Jim had the Optiplex 755.
HP
For more than 30 years HP’s digital and video production services division, Media Solutions, has provided many of the company’s internal and external communications. Our challenge was to increase Media Solutions’ share of HP’s total marketing assignments from inside the organization.
Building on company-wide momentum to re-brand HP as a strategic technology consultant, we recommended positioning the group as a provider of communication solutions (the combination of hardware + software + consulting, in HP parlance) that drive business results. One Degree also injected some serious wow factor into a re-design of the Media Solutions intranet, produced a series of web films documenting their most significant achievements, and created video profiles of senior employees. A quarterly e-newsletter drives traffic to the new site, where folks could find the full story of HP Media Solutions’ capabilities.
